Tango: A language for love and loss
“Tango is first and foremost about connection. We need other people. We need warmth. We need to be heard.” – Ina Wichterich.
Tango is so much more than just steps. It is a language of love, loss, vulnerability, and deep human connection. In a world that can often feel disconnected, we find safety and warmth in the embrace of the dance. This profound bond is the driving force behind Twee siele, een omhelsing (Two Souls, One Embrace) – a production written as an honest conversation through movement.
The piece is deeply inspired by the life of Mark Hoeben, a beloved local tango icon and Wichterich’s dance partner of 25 years, following his diagnosis with Motor Neuron Disease (MND) in 2020. This raw, emotional tribute explores the journey of losing bodily autonomy while navigating the internal struggle between vulnerability and inner strength.
It is a piece inspired by the soul of tango, evolving into an intense, contemporary physical theatre experience that will move you deeply.
Join us for this unforgettable tribute to the art form and the connections we hold dear.
