James Kipling
After graduating with an honours degree in Archaeology from UCT, James discovered Tango in 2000 and decided to focus on the dance floor rather than on the dig.
In 2015, he partnered with Denise Anderson and together they developed their dance under the guidance of Mark Hoeben and Eric Jorissen.
In 2025 and with Eric’s encouragement, James started Recuerdo Tango. Recuerdo, a Spanish word that can be translated as memory, recollection, souvenir, or remembrance, describes the school of close embrace tango James and Denise embody.
Teaching the Milonguera Style in the southern suburbs, they also host milongas at the majestic Glenhof Manor in Newlands.
